Calling All Solo Innovators: Let's Form Dream Teams!

Hello Infor Community Hackathon participants!

Are you bursting with ideas but haven't found your dream team yet? You're in the right place! This thread is dedicated to helping solo participants connect, network, and form amazing teams for the Infor Community Hackathon 2024.

Why Team Up?

  • Combine diverse skills and perspectives
  • Tackle more complex challenges
  • Learn from each other
  • Make new friends and professional connections
  • Increase your chances of creating a winning solution!

How to Get Started:

  1. Introduce Yourself: Reply to this thread with a brief introduction. Include:
    • Your name
    • Your background/skills (e.g., developer, designer, project manager)
    • Your areas of interest or expertise with Infor technologies
    • What kind of team members you're looking for
  2. Share Your Ideas: Have a project concept in mind? Briefly describe it! Someone might be excited to help bring it to life.
  3. Browse and Connect: Read through the introductions. See someone who might be a good fit? Reply to their comment or send them a direct message.
  4. Be Open: Remember, great innovations often come from unexpected collaborations. Be open to different ideas and team compositions!
  5. Confirm Your Team: Once you've formed a team (remember, 2-5 members), update your post to let others know you're no longer available.

Team Formation Tips:

  • Aim for a diverse skill set in your team
  • Consider including both Infor veterans and newcomers
  • Think about the different roles you'll need: coding, design, project management, domain expertise, etc.
  • Don't wait too long – you'll want plenty of time to brainstorm and plan your project

Need Help?

If you're having trouble finding team members or have any questions about the team formation process, don't hesitate to ask for help in this thread. Our community moderators and Hackathon organizers are here to assist!

Remember, the deadline for team formation and project proposal submission is October 15, 2024. So let's get networking and form those dream teams!

Happy team building, and may the best innovations win!

Hi Abi, you talk about JavaScript and that makes me think about extensions to Birst's front end. I have been a Birst developer for a year now, I have done quite a bit of work on Inventory from both LN and SAP. I know Birst may be extended by JavaScript, although I didn't investigate further. I don't have a specific idea, but would be interested in investigating what can be done.

By the way, my company is an Infor customer since a couple of years. I'm located in Italy. And I notice now that my name is not shown on this post - it's Enrico.

Hi all. I manage a DevOps team for a major mortgage company and have years of DevOps experience both on-prem and in public cloud. I'm very much still a hands-on manager and have experience with digital delivery of applications and infrastructure using CICD pipelines. While I don't have experience with Infor, I'm sure I can benefit any team I'm on that is focused on digital delivery. I'm looking to gain experience with Infor itself and automating process.

Hello everyone! I am an Infor Alliance Partner with advanced skills in anything related to Infor OS (ION, API Gateway, RPA, IDM, etc). We mainly work with CSD, but am looking to branch out into other ERP's as well. I signed up as an individual, but have a whole team of developers behind me to help. I would more than happy to join someone's group, should they want me.

Hey Enrico! We don't use Birst, but I know it's pretty popular and I'd love to learn more via extension writing, either here in the hackathon or one on one if anything comes up on your end that could benefit from an extension.

Hi everyone, I am Ovidiu and since a couple of years I am developing (mainly, but not only) interfaces between LN and 3rd party systems using Infor ION Desk , ION API, IDM, etc. I am also experienced in writing extensions for LN. I have deep knowledge also in other areas, like SQL, C#. Depending on the complexity of the requirements we need to use sometime PL SQL or C# to cover very specific aspects.

I do not have for now any specific idea of what we could implement as a general solution that could apply to more Infor customers.

Looking forward to be part of a team working on some cool ideas!

Hi everyone, I am a Design Engineer turn ERP Business Analyst. I have intermediate or better skills with a variety of programs: MATLAB, VBA, VB, SQL. My experience with Infor products is predominantly with Syteline as a Site Developer. I am slightly more interested in the API but am also just looking to broaden my understanding of the OS, so I am open to any project ideas or groups.

    Hi Abi,

I have no idea whether this may be done: you know that on Excel there is a functionality to double click a column separator and get an automatic resizing of the column on its left. This is not available on Birst Visualizer and may save quite a bit of time both when preparing a report and when using it. It's a simple thing, but may be complex to do, if even possible. It'd be maybe a starting point to investigate what may be done by JavaScript upon Birst. Any thought from your side?

Interesting. I'm going to dig into one of our gridded screens in WebUi and see if I can create an extension there that would replicate that. @Brandon Watson do you or your team have experience creating extensions to Birst? Would it be similar to WebUi extensions?

    Hi Brandon,

couple of things related to passing data through ION/API:

    1. Doing a Live Connection from Birst to LN. Birst is capable of Live Connections to external databases, but this functionality has not been exploited by Infor in the LN CloudSuite: in the LN Analytics, only non-realtime loads exist, and the DataLake connectors (the Birst ones, I mean) are not designed for Live Connect, to my understanding. It may be interesting to try: Birst may use REST APIs, or JDBC drivers; the latter requires an Agent to run on some server, which is intended for on-premise connection. So my idea is to try either to get to DataLake (or even to LN itself!) by REST API or by JDBC driver.
    2. We (in my company) are about to start a project of integrating a third-party Supplier Portal with LN. I have no idea on the best way to do this. The program is in Cloud. Again, REST I guess, from DataLake (or LN?) and to ION.

I would love to learn how to test APIs via Postman, which I know exists but honestly I have no idea of where to put my hands…

@AbiFranklin @Brandon Watson I was looking on the MarketPlace for docs on Birst JavaScript (I have seen something somewhere in the past) and found this, which looks interesting:

    Hi everyone,

I’m Aletta, an Infor System Analyst with a focus on Infor CSD, IDM, Security, and some experience with extensions, API Gateway, and ION. While I’m not a hardcore developer, I have several exciting projects in mind. Our team currently consists of just two members—my coworker @khoi and me. If anyone is interested in joining us, you’re more than welcome!

    Hi @Fabiano Silva

While I haven't had direct experience working with INFOR specifically, I've been following their innovative solutions and contributions to the industry with great interest. Their commitment to providing comprehensive ERP and supply chain management solutions aligns well with my passion for leveraging technology to drive efficiency and streamline business processes

Sorry, crazy week. Looking over this this afternoon and will get back with you.

JoyBhosale: I'm also interested in your project. I've worked with the RPA platform UiPath, which is fairly similar to Infor's RPA.

All: When Brandon says he (and his team) has/have "advanced skills" that is an under-statement!

Hey all! Over the past 5 years, I've been a user and administrator of an Infor CSD (Hybrid at the moment) system. In that time I've worked on some CSD (WebUI) extensions; worked with developers to integrate their e-commerce solution via ION / Infor Distribution SX.e API and have made various connections to satisfy business requirements. I am not a developer, and do not have a specific project in mind but am eager to learn and use this experience for growth. I will be able to devote some quality time to a project and am eager to help.
