Load InforLN data within dataflow

I'm seeking clarification regarding a dataflow triggered by a BOD. If the BOD only provides a reduced set of information, but additional data is required from the Infor LN tables, is the only solution to call an Infor API within the flow? Alternatively, is it possible to query the missing data directly from the Infor LN database using Python scripting and then return that queried data back into the dataflow?

Mario,

It is not possible to access outside resources (like Databases, APIs, Files etc.) from a Python script inside a document flow or workflow. All they can process is the values of the parameters passed into the script.

You may be able to add the missing information to the BOD (e.g. to the UserArea elements) inside LN before the BOD is sent. I am not working with LN, so cannot help you with this part unfortunately.

Hi Carsten, thank you for pointing this out. I assume you're referring to external resources as all data originating from Infor LN. I bring this up because I came across Python code that queried data from a SQL Server via ODBC (not related to Infor) and utilized this data.

Since we have a third-party module integrated with Infor LN, I'm exploring all available options in case the BOD does not provide all the required information. I remain hopeful that the company will supply the complete data set through the BOD.

If that's not the case, my plan is to enrich the data by leveraging the ION API, which seems like a practical approach.
