How do you make a repository variable available in a consumer space?

How do you make a repository variable available in a consumer space? Is there something that triggers this? It seems I always have to wait/click around for a while until it shows up, but not sure if there's a defined way to make this happen. Keep in mind this is a consumer space with no model. Thanks

Is there a reason the variable cannot be a session?

To answer the question, you can create a scripted source. When I need to push something in a space without publishing data, I create a script, Release Publish Flag, as below

SELECT section

SELECT [Level(Time.Day).Date] FROM [Level(Time.Day)] WHERE [Level(Time.Day).Days Ago] = 0

Script section

[dual] = 1

Output

dual INTEGER

Create an Publish Group then Publish it.

Session variable is better practice. Otherwise, you'll need to include the publish of the script I stated above in the daily Orchestration. That isn't advisable.

Got it, thanks Diane. It probably could be a session variable? To be honest I just never thought to use them as repository handled my needs. Would that be a better choice in this case?

Session variables are cached on log-in to the space or reference to the variable through a package. Repository variables are used when you want a value captured after log-out. You didn't state your use case, but does it fit more into one of these explanations than the other?

I'm using variables to calculate the current and previous month's year/month values to use as defaults in a dashboard filter. Sounds like either way could work
