Error in BIRT/Designer: "The required session variable is unavailable."

When opening a standard report in BIRST/Designer, the message "The required session variable is unavailable" is displayed.
What should be done?

    The syntax to reference a variable is using GetVariable(‘variable name’). The V{} syntax is for using in Modeler/Connect query based objects.
